Big Time Rush: 'We were used to promote One Direction in the USA'

Big Time Rush's former singer Kendall Schmidt, who has now branched out with the launch of his own band Heffron Drive, has revealed that having One Direction as their support act on tour a few years ago was a great experience although he feels as though their record label were using them to promote the boyband in the USA.

He confessed that it seems like Big Time Rush were used to promote One Direction even though it was his own band's headlining tour and that's what should have been the priority:

"Let’s put it this way; when One Direction were opening for us, their support was blossoming. As cool as it was to hang out with them, it sucked for us because there would be 2,000 girls outside the show singing their songs, even though we were headlining."

"The only reason we were on tour with them is because we had the same [record] label and they were using us to promote the band in America. We didn’t think that was fair, but it happened and the rest is history."

Schmidt's new band, meanwhile, recently announced details of a U.S. tour that will kick off at the end of August in Georgia with the first date taking place on August 30 at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta.
