Royal Blood bag No. 1 spot on UK albums chart

Rock duo Royal Blood have shot straight to the top of the UK chart with their self-titled, debut album.

Having sold nearly 66,000 copies in the past week, ‘Royal Blood’ is the UK’s fastest-selling rock album since ‘Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ back in 2011.

Alongside Royal Blood, the rest of this week’s top five is a made up by Ed Sheeran with ‘X’ – a non-mover – at No. 2; Ariana Grande is new in at No. 3 with ‘My Everything’,  after one week at the top Collabro’s ‘Stars’ has fallen to No. 4; and Sam Smith’s ‘In The Lonely Hour’ is down one to No. 5.

There are a further five new entries to this week’s Top 40 in the form of Opeth with ‘Pale Communion’ at No. 14, Basement Jaxx at No. 30 with ‘Junto’, Dry The River just behind at No. 31 with ‘Alarms In The Heart’, Brad Paisley’s ‘Moonshine In The Trunk’ at No. 34, and a tenth anniversary deluxe edition of Avengefold Seven’s ‘Waking The Fallen’ charts at No. 35.

Dominating this week’s album chart is Kate Bush who has made music history by becoming the first female to have eight albums simultaneously appear in the Top 40.
