Nominees announced for the 2014 Barclaycard Mercury Prize

The shortlist of nominees for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize have finally been announced this afternoon (September 10) and sees the likes of Anna Calvi, Damon Albarn, and Bombay Bicycle Club tipped to win.

Last year's winner was James Blake, and this year's finalists include Calvi's stunning album 'One Breath', GoGo Penguin's 'v2.0', and Royal Blood's self-titled offering. Blur's Damon Albarn is up for his debut solo album and Anna Calvi (pictured left) is enjoying her second nomination.

Tweeting about her nomination, Calvi wrote: "I'm honoured to be nominated again for the Mercury Prize! xA"

The winner of the 2014 Mercury Prize, which was created to celebrate the best British album of the past 12 months, will be handed £20,000 at the awards ceremony, which will be held on October 29 in London at Camden's Roundhouse.
