Franz Ferdinand and Amy Macdonald play pro-Scottish independence gig

A host of Scottish acts including Franz Ferdinand and Amy Macdonald performed at a pro-Scotland independence show this weekend.

Edinburgh's Usher Hall hosted the sold-out A Night for Scotland gig on Sunday (September 14) in an effort to promote the 'Yes' campaign ahead of the country's independence referendum vote on Thursday (September 18).

Franz Ferdinand and Macdonald took to the stage alongside the likes of Frightened Rabbit, Mogwai and Deacon Blue.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Deacon Blue singer Ricky Ross said:

"Tonight reminds people we're nearly there but we're not there yet. Hopefully we're sending people away prepared for the last few days."

Recent opinion polls suggest the result of the referendum will be too close to call.
