Barbra Streisand secures US chart record

Barbra Streisand has made a new chart record in the US.

The veteran singer has become the first artist to have No.1 albums in the States in the last six decades.

She achieved the feat this week when new record 'Partners' reached No.1.

Streisand's first chart-topping album in the States came with 1964's 'People'.

Her No.1 record in the 1970s was 'The Way We Were', with 'Guilty' and 'The Broadway Album' repeating the feat in the 1980s.

'Back to Broadway' and 'Higher Ground' reached No.1 in the 1990s, with 'Love Is The Answer' following the trend in 2009.

Only The Beatles, Jay Z and Bruce Springsteen have had more No.1 albums in the US than Streisand.
