Maroon 5's 'Animals' video heavily criticised by sexual assault support group

Maroon 5's new music video for 'Animals' was recently released and a sexual assault support group has now hit out at the cut, branding it 'dangerous' and a 'stalker's fantasy'.

In the promo clip, frontman Adam Levine plays a butcher who follows a beautiful woman (played by his real-life wife Behati Prinsloo) around when he isn't hacking up bloody carcasses in meat lockers.

Now, the vice president of communications for a sexual assault support group called RAINN has issued a statement about the video, in which she explains that it 'trivialises serious crimes' and shouldn't be looked at as entertainment

Katherine Hull Fliflet said: "Maroon 5's video for 'Animals' is a dangerous depiction of a stalker's fantasy — and no one should ever confuse the criminal act of stalking with romance. The trivialisation of these serious crimes, like stalking, should have no place in the entertainment industry."
