Acts like One Direction and The Vamps have been nominated for this year's BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards.

The awards ceremony is due to take place on October 19 at London's Wembley Arena and today (October 3) some of its nominees were announced.

One Direction, The Vamps, The 1975, Bastille and Rixton are up for the Best British Group prize.

Sam Smith, Ella Henderson, Ed Sheeran, Rita Ora and Cheryl are nominated in the Best British Solo Artist category.

The nominees for the Best British Single prize are due to be announced on October 18.

Some of acts due to perform at the event meanwhile include Ariana Grande, 5 Seconds of Summer and Labrinth.
