PETA shows support for Maroon 5's 'Animals' music video

Animal rights group PETA has spoken out in support of Maroon 5's video for 'Animals', which was recently branded 'dangerous' by a sexual assault support group

The promo clip shows frontman Adam Levine acting as a deranged butcher who hacks apart bloody animal caracasses in a meat locker while stalking a beautiful woman, played by his wife Behati Prinsloo. It attracted negative criticism from sexual assault support group RAINN, but a spokesperson for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has praised its accurate portrayal of butchery and slaughter.

Ben Williamson, a spokesman for PETA, explained to WENN News: "Actually, we think Adam does a very convincing job of making slaughterers look deranged... If anything, the video doesn't go far enough in showing the bloody horror of the meat industry and the misery that animals endure before their carcasses end up on a meat hook or butcher's chopping block..."

He added: "We're all 'animals', but anyone upset by the bloody scenes in the video had better opt out of real life violence by choosing to be a compassionate, vegan animal!"
