Russell Brand has reiterated that he "enjoyed" his marriage to Katy Perry despite it ending in divorce.

The comic wed the US star in 2010 after dating in the year prior.

However, things turned sour when the celebrity duo filed for divorce in December 2011.

Speaking to the Today Show on Monday (October 13), Brand said that his experience with Perry was a postitive one despite the outcome.

He said: "I really enjoyed it. Katy Perry is an amazing person."

Talking meanwhile about marriage problems, Brand added:

"What happened was after you get married, like anyone who's been married or come out of a relationship, you obviously have a lot of expectations. And if those expectations don't work out, then it's probably time to grow a big beard and walk around in pajamas. That's my advice.

"Now I know-first and foremost, self-love, and then give love away. Back then it was mostly just me giving love away with no self-love. I went through my 'return of Saturn,' is what they call it."
