Paula Abdul on Ariana Grande's AMAs snub: 'Some of the greatest artists don't get nominations'

Chat show host Wendy Williams welcomed singer and former 'X Factor' judge Paula Abdul to her programme earlier today (October 21) and asked the star her opinion on Ariana Grande and those supposed 'diva' claims

Abdul explained that while she doesn't know Grande personally, she can understand how hard fame must be for someone who is in their early twenties and people shouldn't be so hard on the 'Problem' beauty:

"Look how adorable… well, she must have started becoming relevant when she was 18 or 19? So she's 21 now – you’ve got to cut her some slack here. I don’t know what’s true and what's not... the people in her camp are the ones that can really speak out on this."

When asked about the fact that Grande wasn't nominated for anything at this year's American Music Awards, which will be held on November 23 in Los Angeles, Abdul admitted that throughout musical history there have been outstanding acts who weren't included in certain prestigious ceremonies so it's nothing to worry about:

"Look at some of the greatest artists up there that don’t get a nomination ever. The awards that are coming to her anyway are probably above and beyond her wildest dreams. She’ll find her way and will have a great career."
