A rep for Mel B has dismissed a story which suggested the singer was removed from MOBO Awards for smoking backstage.

The X Factor judge was a co-host at the event, which took place at London's Wembley Arena on Wednesday (October 22).

The Sun reported that Mel B - who arrived late - was taken outside by security after flouting a smoking ban at the venue.

However, a rep for the Spice Girl has confirmed that this was not the case. They said:

"This story is false. Mel did not light up a cigarette in the backstage area. The show rehearsals ran late meaning less time on the red carpet."
