FKA Twigs enjoying momentum as Mercury Prize betting hots up

Bookmaker William Hill say they have had a flurry of bets on FKA Twigs winning this year's Mercury Music Prize.

The coveted award will be given out on Wednesday (October 29) in London and it is a hotly contested affair.

William Hill revealed today (October 28) that FKA Twigs - whose album 'LP1' is nominated for the award - has the momentum.

She has usurped Kate Tempest's 'Everybody Down' to become the favourite with odds of 11/4.

FKA Twigs is 3/1 and Brighton rockers Royal Blood are third favourite at 5/1.

East India Youth and Jungle both have odds of 10/1.

A William Hill spokesperson commented: "It has been one way traffic all week. All the money has been for FKA Twigs, which is reminiscent of the gamble we saw in 2010 on The xx, which ended up being one of our worst ever Mercury results."

Last year's Mercury Music Prize meanwhile was won by James Blake's 'Overgrown'.
