Young Fathers win Mercury Music Prize

Young Fathers have won this year's Mercury Music Prize.

The Edinburgh trio were originally outsiders for coveted award, which was presented in London on Wednesday (October 29).

However, their 2014 debut record 'Dead' ultimately scooped the prize on the night.

The trio beat off competition from the likes of favourites FKA Twigs and Kate Tempest.

Speaking after the win to reporters about how they will use the £20,000 prize money, the group said:

"We're going to Berlin on November 1 to record a new album so thinking about whatever happens with the money is not our priority at the moment.

"Berlin is the second or third biggest music place and we want to get our foot in the door, so it's good to get over there. We've been there before and had a few shows and we just loved the vibe."

Young Fathers' record meanwhile also won the 2014 Scottish Album of the Year award.
