Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' Marvin Gaye plagiarism case to go trial

The plagiarism case involving Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' and Marvin Gaye is set to go to trial.

The musician and Pharrell Williams' 2013 song has been alleged by Gaye's family as being copied from late star's 1977 tune 'Got To Give It Up'.

Federal Judge John Kronstad has denied Thicke and Williams' calls for the case to be rejected.

A jury will now examine the claims in a trial that will open on February 10 in Los Angeles.

Judge Kronstadt added that the jury would have to look at how the compositions appear on sheet music, not how they sound to listeners.

Thicke and Williams' lawyer Howard King told the AP that whilst he was not surprised at the ruling, he is confident of victory.
