AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd charged with attempting to arrange a murder

AC/DC star Phil Rudd has been charged with attempting to arrange a murder.

The 60-year-old drummer appeared at Tauranga district court in New Zealand on Thursday (November 6) before being released on bail until November 27.

The musician, who was fired from the rockers in 1983 before rejoining in 1994, is alleged to have attempted to hire an individual to kill two people between September 25 and September 26.

Rudd is also charged with threatening to kill and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis.

As part of his bail conditions, the drummer is not allowed to make contact with anyone related to the charge of procuring murder and he also is banned from leaving Tauranga, where he lives.

AC/DC are due to release their new album 'Rock or Bust' on December 2.

However, eyebrows were raised recently when the group uploaded a new promotional photo online that showed the group without Rudd.

It was also reported that the drummer was absent from the band's recent 'Play Ball' video shoot in London.
