Queen: 'We didn't think we would ever play arenas again until Adam Lambert came along'

Legendary rock band Queen have revealed that they thought their time of headlining arenas was over until they got vocal powerhouse Adam Lambert to step in as frontman.

Following their win of Band of the Year at the recent Classic Rock Awards, Queen's Brian May explained that they didn't think they would be performing in arenas again until Lambert came along and he has reignited excitement and interest on a huge scale:

"I would go to shows [by other rock artists] and think, ‘Well, we used to do that — we used to play in arenas. But that’s never going to happen again.’ I didn’t feel it in a terribly sad way, I just thought, ‘We did that, and now we do something different.’”

Referring to Lambert's addition to their current live line-up, the iconic guitarist added: “Suddenly we’re in the same arena again! How incredible that we can still do that, and people still want to come and fill those arenas, and we can still the the HELL out of them!"

Earlier today (November 11), meanwhile, it was confirmed that Adam Lambert and Queen have extended their forthcoming UK tour due to phenomenal demand
