Gareth Malone's All Star Choir debut at No. 1 with Children In Need single

Gareth Malone and his All Star Choir have made it to the top of the UK singles chart with their cover of Avicii's smash hit 'Wake Me Up'.

'Wake Me Up' is the third No. 1 single to be helmed by Gareth Malone following on from Gary Barlow's Diamond Jubilee anthem 'Sing' and 2013's Military Wives 'Wherever You Are' Christmas chart-topper.

Malone's celebrity choir, made up by the likes of Jo Brand, Craig Revel Horwood, Linda Robson and Mel Giedroyc, covered 'Wake Me Up' in aid of Children In Need and have sold 120,000 units in the past week.

At No. 2 this week is a non-mover from Ed Sheeran with 'Thinking Out Loud', up six places to No. 3 is One Direction's 'Steal My Girl', last week's No. 1 from Cheryl with 'I Don't Care' has now fallen to No. 4 and rounding off the Top Five is Meghan Trainor down two with 'All About That Bass' at No. 5.

Other than Gareth Malone, new entries to the rest of the chart come from The Veronicas with 'You Ruin Me' at No. 8, 'Like I Can' by Sam Smith makes it's Top 40 debut at No. 9, and Kendrick Lamar's 'I' lands at No. 20.
