Pink Floyd achieve their first No. 1 album in almost 20 years

Pink Floyd have topped the UK albums chart 19 years on from their last No. 1 record with 'The Endless River'.

'The Endless River' is the prog rockers' sixth chart topping album and their first since 1995's live recording 'Pulse'.

Having sold 139,000 copies this week, 'The Endless River' is one of 2014's fastest-selling albums of the year so far following Coldplay's 'Ghost Stories' and Ed Sheeran's 'X'.

The Foo Fighters score this week's second highest new entry with their 'Sonic Highways' LP debuting at No. 2.

Last week's No. 1 from Ed Sheeran has now slipped two places with 'X' sitting at No. 3. Sam Smith's 'In The Lonely Hour' is up one place to No. 4 and completing the Top Five is a new entry from Queen with 'Queen Forever' at No. 5.

New entries to the rest of the chart this week come from Cheryl at No. 7 with 'Only Human', Rumer at No. 12 with 'Into Colour', Donny Osmond's 'The Soundtrack of My Life' at No. 17, Machine Head at No. 18 with 'Bloodstone & Diamonds', the Foo Fighters' 'Greatest Hits' at No. 19, Gareth Brooks' 'Man Against Machine' is at No. 23, Neil Diamond’s 'All-Time Greatest Hits' at No. 31, 'Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances' at No. 33, and Royksopp's 'The Inevitable End' at No. 38.
