Band Aid 30 single storms to No.1 on UK chart

The new Band Aid single has shot straight to No.1 on the UK chart.

The charity project re-emerged this past week to record a new version of 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' to raise funds for the battle against Ebola.

The tune - which features the likes of One Direction and Ed Sheeran - has sold over 252,000 copies so far since going on sale on Monday (November 17).

The Official Charts Company have confirmed in their midweek update today (November 19) that the single has already become the fastest selling track of 2014 in the UK.

At No.2 on the update meanwhile is Clean Bandit's new Jess Glynne duet 'Real Love', with fellow new entry 'Wrapped Up' by Olly Murs following.

At No.4 is last week's No.1 - Gareth Malone's All Star Choir's 'Wake Me Up' - whilst David Guetta's 'Dangerous' is a newbie at No.5.

5 Seconds of Summer's new effort 'Good Girls' is No.14 and Nicole Scherzinger's 'Run' is another new entry at No.23.
