Ed Sheeran and One Direction named most streamed artists in the UK by Napster

Music streaming service Napster has revealed details of the most played artists in the UK along with the Top 5 songs listened to in the country over the past year.

The company analysed data from the last 12 months and discovered that the five most popular artists in the UK in order are Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, 'Stay With Me' sensation Sam Smith, Paolo Nutini and boyband One Direction

The Top 5 songs, however, are a little different with Clean Bandit's 'Rather Be' taking the No.1 position, John Legend's 'All Of Me' was at No.2, 'Waves' by Mr. Probz came in at 3, 'Let It Go' by Idina Menzel finished in fourth place, and Pharrell Williams' 'Happy' rounds things off at No.5.

Ed Sheeran's latest album 'x', meanwhile, has just bypassed the one million sales mark in the UK and this impressive feat has made him the first musician to achieve this in a calendar year since Emeli Sandé's 'Our Version of Events' back in 2012.
