A number of pop acts have bagged Grammy nominations.

The prestigious awards ceremony began to announce the nominees for their 2015 event today (December 5).

Katy Perry will battle against Sam Smith, Ariana Grande, Coldplay, Miley Cyrus and Ed Sheeran in the Best Pop Vocal Album category.

Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off' meanwhile will go head-to-head with the likes of Meghan Trainor's 'All About That Bass' and Sia's 'Chandelier' in the Record of the Year section.

Beyoncé is up for the Best Urban Contempoary Album prize alongside acts like Chris Brown and Pharrell Williams.

Miranda Lambert and Eric Church meanwhile are nominated for the Best Country Album award.

Next year's Grammy Awards will take place on February 8.
