The Libertines sign major label deal and confirm new album

The Libertines have penned a major label record deal and will release a new album next year.

The reunited indie-rockers have teamed up with Virgin EMI as they get set to unleash a new record in 2015.

Carl Barat commented: "After everything we have been through The Albion sails on course again, I couldn't be more excited."

Pete Doherty said: "I don't know what to say, I'm so happy. It was a beautiful day."

The band's last album came in the shape of their 2004 self-titled sophomore effort.

The record, released through Rough Trade, topped the UK albums chart.
