Charli XCX on her new album: 'It's a comment about how the music industry is like a circus'

Hitmaker Charli XCX has opened up about her new album 'Sucker', which was officially released today (December 15), and confessed that it can be enjoyed in a few different ways.

During a new interview with KIIS-FM, the songstress explained that her album can be seen as a commentary on the current state of the music industry as well as a punk-inspired musical journey:

"The record’s kind of punk-inspired. And it’s partially a comment on the record industry as a whole and how the whole place is basically like a circus. I’m part of it, but not part  of it. It’s like a bizarre place.”

The 'Boom Clap' rising star recently announced details of a full UK headlining tourthat will kick off in Brighton on March 24. The full schedule is as follows:

  • March 27 - Glasgow, QMU
  • March 28 - Sheffield, Plug
  • March 30 - Oxford, O2 Academy

  • April 2 - Birmingham, Institute
