Britain's favourite Christmas No.1 revealedSlade's 'Merry Xmas Everybody' has been named Britain's favourite Christmas No.1 single. William Hill polled one thousand Brits to find out the country's top festive chart-topping tunes. The 1973 Slade track picked up 20% of the votes to land above Band Aid's original 'Do They Know It’s Christmas?', which got 11%. Third on the list is Shakin' Stevens 1985 number 'Merry Christmas Everyone', with East 17's 'Stay Another Day' following at No.4. Mud's 1974 effort 'Lonely This Christmas' meanwhile is No.5 on the list. The most disliked Christmas No.1 single is 'Mr Blobby' by Mr Blobby, whilst The Pogues' 'Fairytale of New York' is the Christmas No.2 most Brits think should have been number one.
