Ed Sheeran and Ben Haenow on course for UK Christmas number ones

Ed Sheeran and Ben Haenow are leading the way on the UK charts in the build-up to Christmas.

The Official Charts Company confirmed today (December 17) that X Factor winner Haenow has sold over 107,000 copies this week of his debut single 'Something I Need'.

This means that it is currently 33,000 units ahead of Mark Ronson's 'Uptown Funk' in the race for this year's Christmas No.1.

Olly Murs and Demi Lovato are at No.4 on the midweek update with 'Up'.

On the albums chart meanwhile, Ed Sheeran's 'x' is 35,000 copies ahead of Sam Smith at No.1.

Nicki Minaj's new entry 'The Pinkprint', however, has to make do with a lowly slot at No.17.
