Gerard Way to channel 'old soul music' on next album

Gerard Way has revealed that he plans on taking a different approach with his next album.

The My Chemical Romance singer first went solo on 2014's 'Hesitant Alien', which at times took influence from Britpop.

Speaking in a new interview with NME, the US star suggested that he might go down a more soulful route when recording his next album in 2015.

Way said: "[I have] changed things up again. The stuff I've been writing recently feels a lot more akin to songs like 'Get The Gang Together' - it feels like it's moving in a garage-y, old soul music kind of direction.

"I want to use horns, backing vocals, things like that. Even though I do the majority of my writing on the guitar, I don't know how prominent it's gonna be. So it's moving in a different direction, for sure."
