Idina Menzel talks being Jewish and releasing Christmas album

Idina Menzel has opened up about releasing a Christmas album as a Jewish person.

Those of the faith do not celebrate the Christian-based holiday and instead honour Hanukkah.

Speaking to ABC News Radio, Frozen singer Menzel said that releasing her festive album 'Holiday Wishes' wasn't a big deal.

She said: "I think Jewish people appreciate Christmas music more than people that celebrate Christmas.

"We don't get to sing it! We're not allowed to celebrate it when we're younger and we feel left out all the time."

'Holiday Wishes' meanwhile reached No.6 in the US albums chart.
