RyanSeacrest.com recently asked readers to submit their favourite singles of 2014 and it has now been announced that Selena Gomez's emotional offering 'The Heart Wants What It Wants' came out on top. 

Gomez takes the No.1 position with her vulnerable yet powerful track, but following closely behind is Demi Lovato with 'Really Don't Care'. UK-based boyband One Direction finished in third place with 'Steal My Girl', 'Jealous' by Nick Jonas is at No.4, and Hilary Duff's comeback song 'Chasing The Sun' is at 5.

Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off' finished in sixth place, 5 Seconds Of Summer's 'She Looks So Perfect' is at No.7, Sam Smith's 'Stay With Me' is at No.8, Jessie J's 'Bang Bang' is at 9, and Ariana Grande's 'Break Free' rounds off the Top 10. 

Back in November, Selena Gomez told her Twitter followers that she was so touched by her fans' response to her new single: "So overwhelmed by the response to #TheHeartWantsWhatItWants, thank you all so much."
