Mercury Records co-founder Irwin Steinberg dies

Mercury Records co-founder Irwin Steinberg has passed away.

The music man was 94 when he died at his home in Brattleboro, Vermont on December 29.

The news was confirmed by his assistant Scott Gorenstein to the Associated Press.

After launching Mercury Records, Steinberg then became the CEO of Polygram Records and held the post for over 30 years.

He later taught a music business course at Columbia College of the Arts in Chicago.

Steinberg is survived by his wife Dominique Moyse and his three children, four grandchildren and two sisters.
