Sting's Broadway musical to close early

Sting's musical The Last Ship is to close early.

The musician opened the production on Broadway three months ago.

However, it has been confirmed that the musical will close on January 24 after poor ticket sales.

The show focuses on shipyards in the North East of England and Sting himself has been starring in the production.

However, producers Jeffrey Seller and Kathryn Schenker admitted that the show will have to end early.

They said in a statement: "We have been bewildered and saddened by our inability to sustain an audience for this musical that we deeply love."

Sting joined the cast in December in an effort to boost ticket sales.
