Dermot O'Leary clarifies X Factor comments: 'I'd love to do the next series'

X Factor host Dermot O'Leary has poured cold water on speculation surrounding his future on the show.

The TV man was recently quoted as saying that he might consider his place on the programme if another project came up.

However, he has now told BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw that he is still very much keen on taking part in the 2015 series.

O'Leary said: "It was taken out of context – of course I'd love to do it! We normally sit down in February and start talking about it. If they turn around to me next month and say, 'We want a fresh face', then I'd say that I've had eight great years and I'll go and do something else. [Simon Cowell] has always been a good boss to me."

He continued: "He always lets me get on with my job, which is the biggest compliment he can give me. This idea that he sits across everything and says, 'I want this to happen, and this to happen' is nonsense. He trusts people. He doesn't like 'yes men' so if you're in a meeting with him and you disagree with everything he says, you need to bring something else or you won't get invited to that meeting again. He's a good boss, he's a fair boss."

O'Leary added that he would pick The Voice star Emma Willis as his eventual X Factor successor.
