Meghan Trainor challenges Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson for the UK No.1 single

Songstress Meghan Trainor may be the artist with the power to end Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson's UK Top 40 singles chart reign this week with her latest offering, 'Lips Are Movin''.

Today's midweek chart update (January 21) shows that her song has shot up 48 places to sit at No.2 and while Mars and Ronson's 'Uptown Funk' is still at No.1 this afternoon after 5 weeks at the top, it is set to be a close race until the final positions are confirmed this coming Sunday.

Hozier's anthemic cut 'Take Me To Church' holds fast at No.3, Demi Lovato and Olly Murs' duet 'Up' is at No.5, and Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off' has climbed to No.11.

Trainor, meanwhile, recently confirmed that she has recorded a duet with One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles and told Britain's The Sun newspaper:

"I had no idea he knew I existed and apparently he was a fan and one of our agents hooked us up and got us a session and we just wrote one evening. It was unbelievable he's a very, very talented songwriter. I was very impressed. I've got it on my phone. It's great; I listen to it all the time ... I'm trying to write with every person from every genre... but I wanna show people I could do a country song, I can do a ukulele song and then an 'All About That Bass' throwback song."
