Fergie challenges Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson for the UK No.1 single

Songstress Fergie has made an impressive debut on today's midweek chart update (January 28) as her comeback single, 'L.A Love (La La)', shot in at No.2 and is less than 6,000 copies behind the No.1, which is still Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' 'Uptown Funk'.

Hozier's 'Take Me To Church' remains at No.3, newcomer Karen Karding has entered the UK Top 40 at No.4 with 'Say Something', and Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney’s 'FourFiveSeconds' is new in at 5 after just 48 hours of being released

Elsewhere on the singles chart, Selena Gomez is on course for her third UK Top 40 hit with 'The Heart Wants What It Wants' at No.15 and The Weeknd lifts from 41 to No.35 with their latest offering, 'Earned It'.

Superstar Fergie, meanwhile, recently admitted that if the Black Eyed Peas get back together it might be without her because she feels the other members want to celebrate that reunion independently: "I was just in the studio last week and I saw Taboo there, and I heard something Will was doing and it was great. But maybe the guys are doing something? I haven't been in the group for 20 years, so it's more their anniversary of being together for 20 years. So maybe they're putting out an album themselves."
