Suge Knight runs over and kills friend whilst trying to escape attackers

Death Row Records founder Suge Knight has been involved in a 'hit and run', his lawyer has stated.

The music mogul killed a 55-year-old friend and injured a 51-year-old man whilst trying to escape attackers in the car park of a Los Angeles fast-food restaurant.

Lawyer James Blatt claimed the incident was an unfortunate accident and that his client will speak to police.

He said: "He was in the process of being physically assaulted by two men and in an effort to escape he unfortunately hit two [other] individuals. He was in his car trying to escape.

"We are confident that once the investigation is completed, he will be totally exonerated."

Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt John Corina, however, added: "Looks like he drove backwards and struck the victims and drove forwards and struck them again.

"The people we talked to say it looked like it was an intentional act."

He has now been arrested for murder and is being held in West Hollywood on bail of $2m (£1.3m).

Suge Knight founded Death Row Records in the 1990s but he was later declared bankrupt.
