Charli XCX labels Simon Cowell's roster of artists "s***"

British starlet Charli XCX has been discussing her views on one of pop music’s most powerful figures: Simon Cowell.

The X Factor judge and head of Syco Entertainment has signed and nurtured the careers of the likes of One Direction, Little Mix, Leona Lewis, Susan Boyle, Olly Murs and Ella Henderson.

The ‘Boom Clap’ singer told Q magazine that if she was in Cowell’s position of authority she would foster a different kind of music.

22-year-old Charli stated: “I think Simon Cowell's cool, I'd love to be in that position, but from the point of view of making music that's not s***.”

Speaking about her own position in music she said: “'I couldn't make any pop music because I hated pop music. I just didn't want to think about it I wanted to be free. It was a case of getting it out of my system. I felt stuck.”

Charli XCX – real name Charlotte Emma Aitchison – performed at last night’s (January 31) VH1 Super Bowl Blitz Party where she played to American troops at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona (see video below).
