Backstreets Boys' Howie D has mistaken a One Direction member for another.

The singer told the Metro that he thought he had met Harry Styles after seeing the Brit-Irish group live.

However, it turns out that the US star mixed up the singers' identities.

Howie D said: "I have a picture of us together. We met...I think his name was Harry?"

When asked if it was the one with "floppy hair", the singer said: "Not him, I'm sorry. The blond one with the guitar?"

Howie D later said: "Niall! He's come to a couple of our concerts."
