Imagine Dragons achieve their first No. 1 UK album

Imagine Dragons have debuted at the top of the UK chart with their second album ‘Smoke + Mirrors’.

The US rock band have bettered the peak position their debut album ‘Night Visions’ reached in 2013 at No. 2. 

Last week’s No. 1 album from Sam Smith, ‘In The Lonely Hour’, has now slipped to No. 2.

The rest of this week’s Top Five is completed by Ed Sheeran with ‘X’, down one to No. 3, Drake’s ‘If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late’, down one to No. 4, and a new entry at No. 5 from Texas with the greatest hits collection ‘Texas 25’.

Outside of the Top Five there are a further eight new entries to this week’s album chart. Thunder are new in at No. 9 with ‘Wonder Days’, Charli XCX’s ‘Sucker’ debuts at No. 15, Ne-Yo’s ‘Non-Fiction’ is just behind at No. 16, Idlewild’s ‘Everything Ever Written’ enters at No. 20, the self-titled ‘Room 94’ is at No. 27, ‘Terraplane’ by Steve Earle & The Dukes at No. 30, Little Comets debut at No. 31 with ‘Hope Is Just A State Of Mind’, and the eponymous ‘Ibeyi’ rounds off the new entries at No. 36.
