Madonna, 1D and Taylor Swift were the BRIT Awards' most mentioned stars on social media

The 2015 BRIT Awards (February 25) was a much talked about ceremony and the people over at Way To Blue have now revealed how the night panned out on social media. 

The company confirmed that the most buzzed-about category was British Artist Video, which was voted for by fans on Twitter and saw One Direction win the trophy with an impressive 94% of the total vote. 

Madonna's performance of 'Living For Love', during which she fell from a flight of stairs, was the most tweeted about of the entire event receiving 135,420 mentions and Kanye West's performance was the second most popular with 44,848 tweets. 

Taylor Swift was the most buzzed-about female nominee, Ed Sheeran picked up that title for the men of the BRITs and One Direction were the most mentioned group of the night despite the fact that they weren't actually there. 

BRITs presenters Ant and Dec did a good job of hosting the event and 49% of the tweets about them implied positivity, 19% were definitely positive, 11% were negative and 21% were neutral.
