Lulu dishes on past affair with David Bowie: "We were so connected"

In a revealing new interview, Scottish singer Lulu has revealed details of a past romantic relationship with David Bowie.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday’s EVENT magazine, the 66-year-old ‘Shout’ singer went into great detail about her involvement with Bowie which began in 1974 during his Thin White Duke days.

Lulu recalled: “‘I had a small window when I was involved with Bowie… We were so connected because of the music – it was the personal stuff that was… odd. Some of the conversations we had were insane.”

Elaborating on those “insane” conversations, Lulu stated: “He told me I should lose weight. I was a bit embarrassed because I was always a little chubster, but he was talking in terms of my image – that was the thing then, that heroin chic look. He didn’t say it when I was in a compromising situation with him.”

Despite David Bowie’s fame, Lulu’s mother did not approve of the glam rock star: “‘My mum thought Bowie was the weirdest thing she’d ever seen, and to a mother of course he was.”

A year after her marriage to Bee Gee Maurice Gibb ended, Lulu and the 'Diamond Dogs' musician came into contact when the pair recorded a duet version of Bowie's 'The Man Who Sold The World' track together.

Going into more intimate details about their time together, Lulu divulged: “David Bowie’s thighs were incredible… Long and slim but muscly. Not pumped up but really powerful. They were strong, even though he was emaciated at the time. I often think that he had similarly shaped thighs to Naomi Campbell.”

Lulu had previously dimissed the link as "a little fling" that was "nothing serious".
