Big Sean on collaborating with Ariana Grande: 'She was super cool about it, but it's not about us'

Rapper Big Sean teamed up with his girlfriend Ariana Grande on a song called 'Research' and he has revealed that while it's not about their relationship, it deals with themes that real couples will be able to relate to.

He told MTV News that it was great to work on music with his gorgeous girlfriend and he thinks it'll be a track that a lot of people can identify with:

"Recording 'Research' with Ariana was super cool, she was super cool about it. What I like about this song is that it's not about our situation, it's not about me and her. But I appreciated her for being down and talk about it."

"It deals with relationships and going through different things but it's real stuff that people go through that people can relate to. So I appreciate her being an artist and being down and doing the song regardless of what we got going on. I appreciate her, it's one of my favourites."

Back in January, the hitmaker told Complex magazine that he and Grande started off their romance as friends and built up from a strong platonic foundation:

"We started as friends. I’d never done that. Usually you meet a girl and then start dating. We always saw each other in the studio, and we’d talk about songs we were working on. It was cool to have a girl that I could talk to about my problems. I did that with her. It’s not some fake-ass, inauthentic sh*t when I say we were friends. This is something special and I appreciate every moment of it."
