Years & Years debut at No. 1 on UK singles chart

British trio Years & Years have gone straight in at the top of the UK chart with their single ‘King’.

The BBC Sound of 2015-winning band managed to de-throne Ellie Goulding from No. 1 by racking up a combined sales total of 101,000 this week.

After four weeks at No. 1 Ellie Goulding’s ‘Love Me Like You Do’ has now slipped to No. 2. However, the '50 Shades of Grey' track is still the most-streamed song of the week with 2.15 million listens over the past seven days.

The rest of the top five is made up by Rihanna with ‘FourFive Seconds’ featuring Kanye West and Paul McCartney up two to No. 3, ‘Take Me To Church’ by Hozier is down two to No. 4, and The Weeknd’s ‘Earned It’ is down one to No. 5.

Other than Years & Years, further new entries to this week’s chart come from Marlon Roudette with ‘When The Beat Drops Out’ at No. 7, Alex Adair at No. 13 with ‘Make Me Feel Better’, Kanye West’s ‘All Day’ at No. 18, and Imagine Dragons have climbed from No. 60 to No. 33 with 'Demons'.
