Big Sean on success of his 'Dark Sky Paradise' album: 'Ariana Grande is very proud of me'

Rapper Big Sean is celebrating a No.1 album with his third full-length effort 'Dark Sky Paradise' and he revealed to KIIS-FM that he is amazed at how well the cut is doing.

The record shifted 173,000 copies in its debut week and hit the No.1 spot on the Billboard chart in the USA. The 26-year-old hitmaker spoke to On Air With Ryan about the album's success and confessed that he's very proud of it:

"It’s just cool to see it pay off. I really put my heart into and I put a lot of effort into it. It’s just cool, man, when you follow your heart [and] how it works out. The second I found out it was No. 1 — I haven’t slept in days and I was exhausted — and it was like I just got hit by lightening. Everybody kept hitting me [up]. I mean everybody. Even Kid Rock texted me because we both put an album out on the same week and he was like, ‘You deserve it, man! Congratulations!'”

Big Sean went onto add that his girlfriend, Ariana Grande, was also very excited about his commercial success and while he refused to reveal details about the present she bought him, he described her as 'very thoughtful': “She was very proud and very happy… She’s very thoughtful though.”
