Shawn Mendes to release debut album early if fans achieve set social media milestones

Canadian singing sensation Shawn Mendes has announced to his fans that they have the chance to push the release date of his debut album, 'Handwritten', forward if they help him achieve social media milestones.

He shared a quick video update via Twitter this afternoon and explained the conditions of the potential early release: "What's up guys? If we break our record for the most views of any video we've released on the first day and we get over 1 million mentions, I'm going to release 'Handwritten' early."

In order to unlock the album ahead of its scheduled release date, which is April 27, his video for 'Life Of The Party' needs to hit the 1 million mentions mark on social media site Twitter when it is unveiled later today (March 10) and it also has to surpass Mendes' existing VEVO first-day video views record.

Mendes, meanwhile, has announced details of a special headlining tour that will take him from North America to Europe and the jaunt kicked off in Sweden late last month. The final concert will take place in Anaheim, California on April 22.
