Marvin Gaye's family seek to stop sales 'Blurred Lines' after court victory

The family of Marvin Gaye will attempt to block the sale of Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' following their successful court verdict.

As previously reported, a jury has ruled that Thicke's 2013 song - one of the best-selling singles of all time - copied Gaye's 1977 track 'Got To Give It All'.

$7.3m (£4.8m) in damages is due to be given to Gaye's family.

A lawyer for the family has confirmed to Rolling Stone that they will seek to stop sales of 'Blurred Lines' until future royalty payments are sorted.

Attorney Richard Busch said: "We’ll be asking the court to enter an injunction prohibiting the further sale and distribution of 'Blurred Lines' unless and until we can reach an agreement with those guys on the other side about how future monies that are received will be shared.

"We’ll be doing that in about a week or so."

'Blurred Lines' was written by Thicke, Pharrell Williams and TI.
