Gavin DeGraw on Zayn's decision to leave One Direction's tour

'Chariot' hitmaker Gavin DeGraw (pictured below on the panel), who was recently confirmed as Shania Twain's support act for her upcoming north American jaunt, has revealed that Zayn Malik made a smart decision in leaving 1D's tour to deal with stress because being a celebrity can really wear you out

During his time co-hosting 'The Talk' earlier this afternoon (March 23), the rocker explained that he completely understands how Malik feels and knows what it's like to be affected by the stress and pressure that fame can create:

"They're really just starting to feel wild in age - that's a very wild time for them. I think... you're in a band and you first get out on the road, and you get a case of... 'first tour-itis' and you want to enjoy yourself. Then you feel in your personal life that if you want to go get a beer with friends, you can't as people are watching you - you feel like you're in a fishbowl at all times."

Heartthrob Malik, meanwhile, was also recently praised by mental health professionals for publicly admitting that he needed time off. Dr Sandi Mann, senior lecturer in psychology at the University of Central Lancashire, told The Independent newspaper:

"Stress and mental ill health are major issues today, especially with young people. We need to teach young people to cope with stress and mental health problems in schools so I hope this will help raise awareness for young people and the general public."
