Joni Mitchell undergoing tests in intensive care after being hospitalised

Joni Mitchell has been hospitalised after being found unconscious in her home.

The 71-year-old was taken to hospital in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon (March 31).

Her website confirmed that the singer-songwriter regained consciousness and is now undergoing tests in intensive care.

They wrote: "Joni was found unconscious in her home this afternoon. She regained consciousness on the ambulance ride to an L.A. area hospital.

"She is currently in intensive care undergoing tests and is awake and in good spirits. More updates to come as we hear them. Light a candle and sing a song, let's all send good wishes her way."

Mitchell meanwhile told Billboard in December that she suffers from the rare skin condition Morgellons Disease, which often leaves patients feeling like something is crawling over them.

The Canadian's last full studio album 'Shine' was released in 2007.
