Ed Sheeran and Rudimental score midweek No.1 single with 'Bloodstream'

Today's midweek singles chart update has now been revealed (April 1) and it sees British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran topping the lot with his new single 'Bloodstream', which also features Rudimental.

The pair have made a strong impact at the top spot this afternoon with the collaborative track, which was repackaged for a single release, and they are just 3,000 copies ahead of this week's No.2 which is Jess Glynne with 'Hold My Hand'. If Sheeran maintains this lead, it will give him his third UK No.1 single after 'Thinking Out Loud' and 'Sing'.

James Bay's 'Hold Back The River' is at No.3, 'King' by Years & Years is at 4, and Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney’s 'FourFiveSeconds' has dropped one position to sit at No.5.

Elsewhere on the UK Top 40, Rihanna has shot up 13 places to No.16 with 'Bitch Better Have My Money', former 'X Factor' singer Luke Friend has entered at 27 with his debut single 'Hole In My Heart', and Olly Murs has made an appearance at No.31 with 'Seasons'.
