Kendrick Lamar says he once worked with Prince in the studio.

The chart-topping rapper told Hot 97 that they had a session in September last year.

The coming-together took place at Prince's Paisley Park Estate in Minnesota.

However, Lamar admitted that they didn't have time to complete their collaboration.

He said: "We was vibing, but we was pressed [for time] man...I didn’t trip over getting a song done."

The rapper added that Prince gave him career advice: "I really appreciate the actual game he was giving me...He took control of his music...He was breaking down some things that I need to consider in my career… What [Jay Z] is doing is just confirmation from what Prince was telling me."

Lamar meanwhile recently hit No.1 in the UK and the US with his new record 'To Pimp A Butterfly'.
