James Arthur: 'I'm aware of my mistakes and am trying to better myself now'

British singer James Arthur has revealed that he wants to make amends for the mistakes he has made and hopes his fans will help him to move on from them.

The star sat down for an interview with MTV and opened up about the mistakes he has made in the past, and confessed that he's now focused on trying to move forward:

"I'm trying this thing where I don't regret as much because it doesn't really work well - to regret things. I'm just trying to move forward, really, and I hope other people can join me in moving forward. I've made mistakes and I'm very aware of them, and I'm trying to better myself from those mistakes."

The hitmaker went onto add that he has a lot of respect for people who utilise opportunities that stem from auditioning for vocal talent competitions because they are a fantastic platform for exposure:

"The 'X Factor' is an incredible platform. For people like me, I had no money, no management and no machine behind me. There was a tent in my hometown where I could go and sing for a producer and it changed my life. I would encourage anybody to do it, and I would certainly do it again."
