Hilary Duff was 'too thin': 'My hands would cramp because I was so unhealthy'

'Sparks' hitmaker Hilary Duff has revealed that she wasn't very healthy when she was younger and was so under-nourished that her hands would cramp up.

During an interview with People magazine, the beauty admitted that she was far too thin and there was nothing healthy about her weight or diet:

"I was too thin. That was not a healthy place for me. I was so unhappy. I remember my hands cramping because I wasn't getting enough nutrients."

She confessed that when she was younger there was a trend of young women being 'super skinny' so it was seen as normal: "A lot of girls my age were super skinny. I think it's just as bad now, but it's more normal. It's crazy. I can't be that way. It's not my normal state."

Duff went onto add that now she's a mother to 3-year-old Luca, she is much more aware of how to take care of herself: "Things don't bounce back the way they used to, but I don't need to be 110lbs. I'm a 27-year-old mother. I feel fit and strong and happy."
